Why is Cow Corner offering DelPro training? Cow Corner’s purpose is to help robotic milking equipment do more for the people who use it. DelPro training is part of that purpose. I worked with DelPro as a dairy farm reproduction consultant before I was a robotic milking specialist. I know how frustrating it can be to find the information you need in an unfamiliar program. I want to help others avoid that frustration.
What information will be covered? I want this class to be relevant for as many people as possible so I will focus on things that every VMS DelPro user needs - even those that are keeping herd management records in Dairy Comp, PC Dart or Bovisync.
Overview - navigation in the program and definitions of DeLaval robotic milking terminology
Reports - finding and using key reports, creating and customizing your own reports
Feeding - setting up and evaluating feed tables, other settings that affect feeding in the robot
Milking Permission - understanding, setting, and evaluating milking permission
Herd management aspects of DelPro such as herd checks, TAI protocols, and action lists are not included in this class.
Who is presenting the material? I am presenting the material myself. I have nearly 7 years of experience teaching, trouble-shooting, and setting up DelPro with individuals and groups, on farms and in classrooms.
Why should I go to a Cow Corner class instead of a DeLaval class? DeLaval has DelPro resources and qualified instructors and I encourage using them. Cow Corner classes are for those who prefer:
In-person classroom format – Learn in a collaborative environment that encourages discussion and participation
Real farm experience – I work on-farm with all brands of robotic equipment every week, and I collaborate with several outstanding farm management teams. I can show you which data-points can make a difference on your farm.
Minimal time commitment and convenient locations – Your time is valuable. My class location and format allow you to do your work in the morning, attend the class, and be home in the evening.
Reasonable price – The $50 registration fee is less expensive than seminars hosted by other dairy organizations.
Responsive follow-up – I can arrange further instruction for students that want to learn more about any of the class content.
Will participants get to use DelPro during the class? The class will include demonstrations in a copy of DelPro, as well as PowerPoint presentations. Participants may choose to access their own farms during the class for reference. It is not practical to provide hands-on copies of DelPro in this class. Discussion and questions are encouraged. The class will be interactive. Copies of the PowerPoint presentations will be available to participants.
Who should attend? This class is intended for anyone who uses DelPro for robotic miking. The material is intended to help farmers, farm employees, nutritionists, and consultants. Class size is limited to 20 people encourage discussion and interaction.
Will there be more classes? I hope to repeat this class in other locations. I would like to introduce new classes for different levels of experience. Those classes could include different topics including herd management in DelPro. I can create custom classes for any size group, and speak at your farm, office, mill, or other venue.
